Turkey day has come and gone, and you may be looking for some new uses for leftover stuffing.

By far, turkey is the most versatile item to use when it comes to Thanksgiving leftovers.

If we’re not making our smoked turkey recipe, (be sure to try it with our smoked turkey brine recipe to ensure it stays extra juicy) we’re usually using our mayonnaise roasted turkey method. 

Both recipes create an amazing turkey so we always get a larger bird than we need so that there are plenty of leftovers.

We also use thanksgiving leftovers to add them to a skillet, top it with eggs, and make a frittata for breakfast. Another great option is this Leftover Turkey and Stuffing Casserole.

Mashed potatoes can be used to make potato croquettes, homemade gnocchi, or even potato pancakes.

However, when it comes to leftover stuffing, it can be harder to get creative with recipes for these leftovers.

What to do with leftover stuffing

Wondering what to make with leftover stuffing?! Make our leftover stuffing dumplings!

These leftover stuffing balls are a great addition to a warm and comforting soup.

Just like our approach to turkey, we always make more than enough of our sourdough stuffing with sausage, sage, and apple.

It’s always a family favorite!

Any excuse to have extra of this stuffing and use it for leftover stuffing recipes is a win!

You can use any stuffing for these leftover stuffing dumplings. 

Keep in mind that depending on how flavorful your stuffing was to begin with will impact how much additional herbs or seasonings you should add; this recipe is just a guide.

Leftover Stuffing Dumplings Recipe

Makes ~20 dumplings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup leftover stuffing 
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme, destemmed
  • ¼ teaspoon salt 
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper 
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder 

Steps:

  1. In a medium sized bowl whisk together the flour, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
  2. Add stuffing mixture and the de-stemmed sprigs of fresh thyme to the bowl and combine everything.  The batter should still be semi wet like a shaggy dough. 
  3. With a wet hand, grab about a tablespoon of batter and roll dumpling balls. Cover and refrigerate until ready. 
  4. When you’re ready for your ramen or soup, add the dumplings to a simmering broth and cook for about  three minutes untouched. When the dumplings are done, they will appear fluffy and will float. 
  5. Serve in your favorite soup recipe or make our leftover thanksgiving soup recipe using chicken ramen.

    Great recipe but I only got about 5 or 6 dumplings with one egg. Easily rectified by doubling the ingredients for the dumplings.
