Whether you’re a local foodie from the Pacific Coast, or planning a trip to the region for a food-filled getaway, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

What is the Flavors of the Peninsula Culinary Celebration?
The Flavors of the Peninsula Festival is a series of signature food and beverage events and special dining menus designed to celebrate the region’s vibrant dining scene and strong community ties.
Organized as part of an ambitious multi-year initiative to spotlight the area’s culinary talent, the festival brings together restaurant partners, standout chefs, and cocktail partners for a truly immersive culinary experience.
At its core, the festival is about connection between chefs and diners, local farmers and restaurants, and visitors and the unique character of the peninsula cities.

The program features everything from curated prix-fixe menus at local restaurants to high-energy tasting events like the Flavors of the Peninsula Tasting Event, where guests can sample creations from some of the region’s top culinary minds.
Expect appearances and influence from notable chefs and rising stars each bringing their own flair and creativity to the table.
With live music, elite chef tastings, and even themed experiences like the Half Moon Bay Food Walking Tour, it’s an energetic evening of incredible food, repeated across multiple days and venues.

Why is the San Francisco Peninsula a Great Area for Food?
The San Francisco Peninsula, part of San Mateo County, is one of California’s most exciting culinary corridors.
The region blends bayside innovation with agricultural abundance, resulting in a dining scene that’s both cutting-edge and deeply rooted in local traditions.
To the west, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay supply some of the freshest seafood you’ll find anywhere in the world.
Enjoy the freshest oysters, Dungeness crab, and sustainably caught fish.
Inland, an innovative farm culture supported by local farmers ensures that menus are bursting with seasonal produce.

We had a chance to experience this firsthand, during our visit to Half Moon Bay Wasabi. One of only two US-based wasabi farms, we were able to experience freshly harvested wasabi with a slice of sushi, right in the middle of the greenhouse.
99% of the wasabi served in America isn’t actually wasabi. It’s just horseradish that has been dyed green.
What’s interesting about a fresh wasabi plant is that the whole plant is edible.

From the somewhat bitter leaves to the picturesque flowers. They start tasting herbaceous, then slighty floral, then leave you with a strong kick in your mouth.
We’re honestly shocked that more fine dining restaurants are using wasabi flowers as a flavorful dish component.

This region also brings a rich tapestry of international cuisines, from Filipino comfort food to the country’s first Michelin Star awarded Indian restaurant.
The peninsula is also home to several Michelin star restaurants, reinforcing its reputation as a most dynamic culinary destination in the Bay Area.

We had the opportunity to dine at Village Pub in Woodside, California which is a destination restaurant with a Michelin Star.
The restaurant is a beacon of attentive service and fine dining, all without being stuffy.
Your set dinner starts with a tray of amuse bouche delights followed by their warm parker house rolls.

From there select your choice of a starter, entree and dessert to build your perfect pre-fixe meal.
The white asparagus was the best asparagus dish we’ve ever tasted.
For entrees, the spring vegetable risotto was bright and creamy and the lobster pasta was rich and velvety.

The region’s produce was on full display on the strawberry tart with perfect baby strawberries, bursting with flavor.
Whether you’re indulging in fine dining or exploring casual eateries, the region’s creativity of the peninsula shines through every dish.

What Events Take Place?
Flavors of the Peninsula Tasting Event
The celebration kicks off with a bang, featuring elite chef tastings, live music, and a vibrant atmosphere that sets the tone for the days ahead.
A high-energy signature event, this gathering brings together dozens of chefs, restaurants, and beverage partners for a night of sampling and socializing.

We enjoyed gourmet small plates like fresh fava bean crostinis, American wagyu filet mignon, hibiscus aguachile.
Feeling thirsty? There were also craft cocktails and world-class wine tastings pouring lots of delicious libations.
Enjoy representation of local ingredients and regional culinary talent alongside live music and lots of socializing.

For this event we stayed at the AC Hotel San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront. It was super convenient for the proximity to the event, and also just minutes from SFO.
Our room had fantastic bayside views of sailboats that you can stroll around on a morning walk.
What made this hotel truly memorable and also gave a taste of the Peninsula was their daily “Karl the Fog” cocktail ritual at their AC Lounge.
Karl is the name of the famous San Francisco fog, and this hotel has turned it into a fun and informative cocktail show that cannot be missed.

Dining at Participating Restaurants: Rasa
Rasa is an important beacon in the global food world.
It was the first Indian restaurant in America to be awarded a Michelin Star in 2016 and held that honor for many subsequent years.
Rasa showcases traditional Indian cuisine with fine dining presentation and incredible flavors.
Be sure to order the gigantic white elephant butter paper dosa.
This crispy creation is over two feet long, seasoned and rolled into a tube-like shape.

Served with a variety of dipping sauces, it’s the ultimate snack and pairs great with entrees like their butter chicken as well as the meen vazhayila pollichatu, a flavorful halibut fillet steamed in banana leaves and served with flavorful sauce.
While there don’t forget drinks, their cocktail program is also world class putting Indian spins on cocktail classics.
It’s the perfect showcase of global cuisine with an elegant twist.

Dining at Participating Restaurants: Cascade
Take a roadtrip to Pescadero, California for a meal that feels like a retreat.
Located at Costanoa Resort, a lodge with cabins, glamping, and traditional camping sites, you’ll find Cascade Restaurant.
The restaurant is the epitome of cozy with open fires cracking and patio dining overlooking the lush gardens and forests lining the coast.

At Cascade enjoy options like warm and cozy clam chowder before ordering entrees like the tender braised short rib or the chicken with chimichurri sauce.
If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat, book a stay at Costanoa and enjoy the fresh air and walking trails that take you from coastal beach walks to redwood-lined forests.
It’s the perfect way to feel your tummy as well as your soul.

Dining at Participating Restaurants: Mezza Luna
A beloved staple in the peninsula dining scene, Mezza Luna offers a warm and inviting setting that perfectly captures the spirit of coastal California.
Known for its Italian-inspired cuisine, this restaurant is a go-to for both locals and visitors seeking comforting yet refined dishes.
During the festival, Mezza Luna shines with curated prix-fixe menus that highlight seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and the nearby coast.

Choose from starters like clam chowder, a mixed salad or a caesar salad. Then pick your entree between the chicken Milanese, a calamari steak, pasta primavera, or the salmon farfalle pasta.
Finally, satisfy your sweet tooth with tiramisu or a cream-filled cannoli.
The ambiance strikes a balance between casual and elegant, making it ideal for a special occasion or a relaxed evening after exploring Half Moon Bay.

Dining at Participating Restaurants: Pamilya
For a taste of bold, heartfelt flavors, Pamilya brings Filipino cuisine into the spotlight.
This restaurant is more than just a place to eat, it’s a celebration of Filipino heritage, community, and storytelling through food.
The amount of smiling faces coming in and out of the restaurant was abundant.
Pamilya embodies the festival’s commitment to showcasing diverse culinary voices.
Its festival offerings often feature vibrant dishes that blend traditional Filipino recipes with modern techniques, creating a truly unique culinary experience.

It’s so hard to find great Filipino food around the country, so when we dined there we had to sample a vast array of dishes.
Our favorite bites included the famous chicken adobo, garlic rice, Filipino BBQ pork skewers, and of course all of the pickled Filipino veggies.
The restaurant’s participation underscores the peninsula’s incredible culinary diversity and highlights the importance of supporting local communities and meaningful business ventures.

Dining at Participating Restaurants: Oak & Violet
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Oak & Violet delivers a polished yet approachable take on contemporary California cuisine. It focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients and elegant presentation.
During the Flavors of the Peninsula program, Oak & Violet offers menus that emphasize innovation and balance. Enjoy artfully plated dishes paired with creative craft cocktails and exceptional wines.
The restaurant’s sleek design and attentive service make it a favorite for both business dinners and celebratory nights out.

We enjoyed a nightcap of their take on a clarified whiskey sour. The garnish was an impressive skeleton leaf, which showed their innovation and attention to detail.
Its participation in the festival highlights the synergy between bayside innovation and culinary artistry, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the region’s dining scene.
