Top Activities in Plano for Couples
Have a Paint War at Pipe and Palate
Pipe and Palate is a painting date with a twist and is located at the Shops at Willow Bend.
We’re no artist, but Pipe and Palate made painting easy and fun.
Together you get a blank canvas. You can start by designing it with tape to paint over with a solid color, if you choose to do so.
Then, the fun begins by dressing in a full body plastic poncho. After you’ve had a view laughs, head into the paint room and with brushes and a ton of colors of paint.
Now it’s time to get messy as you splatter paint onto the canvas in a colorful, blacklight filled room.
Once your splattered paint is a masterpiece fit for the Louvre, they take it out for drying so you can have a “paint fight” with your partner.
Flick and splatter the bright pink blacklight paint on your partner as you try to stay clean.
Don’t worry the paint fight is fast, and the paint you use for that is fully washable if somehow a bit gets past the plastic poncho.
If you want to continue the “artistic date”, you’re also really close to the Plano Crayola Experience where you can craft your own crayola crayon.

Work up a Sweat at Activate Games
Activate Games is where fitness meets gaming.
It’s as if you’re placing yourself in a video game without the need of VR glasses.
At Activate you’ll jump, climb, problem solve, and laugh as you’re having fun through this laser light show adrenaline rush.
You can choose to collaborate with your partner or turn on competition mode to compete for points across a variety of different rooms and challenges.
Upon leaving Activate, we both said that we wish a gym was this fun, because we definitely got our sweat on while competing together.

Solve the Puzzles at NTER – North Texas Escape Room
There’s nothing better than a date with surprises, challenges, and fun around any corner.
We love a good escape room date, and the North Texas Escape Room was one of the better escape rooms we’ve ever experienced.
They offer multiple rooms, themes, and challenges of different difficulties.
We chose to complete the penthouse challenge room, and it was awesome.
The escape room was a jewel heist case we had to solve.
Throughout all the challenges you even discover secret hidden doors and tons of mystery safes.
Yes, we solved it with plenty of time to spare!

Dance the Night Away at Lexus Box Garden Concerts at Legacy Hall
Legacy Hall is an easy date night all in one place.
This place has it all from food, to a brewery, to their Lexus Box Garden for concerts and trivia.
The Box Garden is an open air live music entertainment space.
The weather was absolutely perfect for the Taylor Swift tribute band we got tickets for.
Check their events calendar because their lineup ranges from country, to pop, to hip hop, to classic rock.
7800 Windrose Ave., Plano, TX 75024
Show your Sporty Side at Fowling Warehouse
Fowling Warehouse is where football meets bowling.
This is the perfect place to watch a big game, grab a beer, and get competitive in a new game.
It was a very fun time and a sporty atmosphere. If you’ve bowled before, there’s no learning curve for playing the game other than knowing how to throw a football.
There are no bumper rails like in traditional bowling, which make it quite a challenge!
If you hit only the middle red pin it’s called a “BONK” and you win instantly, otherwise, take turns throwing the ball to get all the pins down.

Cool off at The Texas Pool
Did you know the first Texas-shaped pool is located in Plano?
The Texas Pool opened in 1961 and it has been keeping the community cool ever since.
Now it is currently a non-profit through the Texas Pool Foundation where they’re preserving this historic site and putting on community-building events.
Texas gets so hot during the summer, and if you’re in Plano, is there any better Texas experience than relaxing in the world’s first Texas shaped pool?
If you want to preserve this landmark, consider making a donation to the non-profit.

Tour History at the Interurban Railway Museum
Located close to Plano’s historic downtown and Haggard Park, the Interurban Railway Museum is free and a quick tour.
The main exhibit hall tells the story of the Texas electric railway.
They have an interactive electricity room and a VR experience.
Head outside and you can tour their historic train car and may even be able to act like a conductor.
Also, the staff is so friendly at this history museum, they give out their own coloring pages for kids of all ages for free.

Top Date Restaurants in Plano
Eating is not only one of our favorite things to do, it’s a great thing to do in between the fun activities above. Here are our recommendations for top date restaurants in Plano, Texas.
A Chic Brunch at The Bloom Lounge Bistro
The Bloom Lounge is turning brunch into a whimsical adventure.
A cute brunch date is always needed in any city, and The Bloom Lounge takes the cake.
Walking in you’ll see a beautiful chandelier and a wall of roses.
The most impressive thing that you should order to share are their tiramisu pancakes.
We say pancakes, but these puppies are HUGE.
It’s essentially like ordering a three tiered cake with all of the goodness of a classic espresso-filled tiramisu.
If you were to get this dish from a traditional cake shop it would probably cost $50+, but because it’s their signature pancake your table could savor it for half of the cost and still probably go home with leftovers.
Reservations aren’t required, but they do get packed so we recommend making them if you’re planning ahead.
We went early enough on a Saturday morning that we didn’t have any wait time, but by the time we left the restaurant was packed.

Southern Fare at Haywire
Haywire brings the vibes through their multilevel restaurant in their farm to table, Texas-driven menu.
They partner with farmers, ranchers, and growers and you can even scan a QR code on the menu to get full transparency where everything comes from.
For a starter, we recommend ordering their take on a fried green tomato with bacon jam, marinated labneh, and a green goddess sauce.
For dinner they have a full steak menu, but what really stood out was their wagyu chicken fried steak with a jalapeño sausage gravy. It was one of the best we’ve ever had.
Their drinks program is extensive from cocktails, to beer, to a giant wine cellar for a fantastic glass of wine.
They also have open kitchens for both the pastry dessert kitchen, and the main kitchen, so you can see all of the action.
Insider tip: If there’s a live performance at the Lexus Box Garden Concerts at Legacy Hall, you can actually hear and see the stage from the 3rd story of Haywire.

Multi-Course Sushi Feast at EBESU Robata & Sushi
Located in the cute, historic downtown area of Plano, EBESU Robata & Sushi has Plano’s only James Beard nominated sushi chef.
High-end sushi can get pricey, but one of the best things we found through research is that you can get their premium tasting menu (they call it their signature menu) at a great discount during their happy hour.
This tasting menu is perfect for a romantic dinner.
The menu takes you through thick cut sashimi, an appetizer which we opted for their homemade dumpling, a robata course aka grilled fish and meat, a wagyu hot rock, a Negi-toro tuna bowl, and two homemade desserts.
If you’re not starving we still recommend going during their happy hour because the discounted menu options are plentiful.
Most sushi restaurants you can leave hungry, this is not one of those sushi restaurants.
1007 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074
Hand-pulled Noodles at Uncle Zhou
The once New York Michelin Guide recommended restaurant Uncle Zhou’s is now located only in Plano, and it’s truly one of the best noodle and dumpling restaurants we’ve ever had.
Their hand drawn noodles have a perfect texture and amazing flavor, but their homemade dial oil dumplings were mind blowing.
The dumpling was spiced perfectly, and the dial oil sauce was a perfect combination of spicy, sour, and savory.
Driving back to Austin, we instantly regretted not getting Uncle Zhou’s dumplings a second time before leaving.
8200 Preston Rd, Plano, TX 75024
Authentic German Fare at the Bavarian Grill
The Bavarian Grill German beer hall in Plano is easily the best German restaurant in all of Texas, and potentially the best we’ve had outside of Germany.
This is the perfect spot to have a pint because they import a giant list of German beers from all of the top breweries, and some of the harder-to-find brews too.
They have a large menu of German classics, they import many German products.
The sausages come from the Historic Sausage Kitchen of Regensburg, the oldest sausage maker in all of Germany, and they bake their German bread rolls in house.
We were on a food crawl so we were already pretty full when we arrived to the Bavarian Grill, but we still ordered multiple orders of their German sausage rolls. They were just that good. We also loved their cheesy Spätzle; the bowl was licked clean.
3425 Premier Dr, Plano, TX 75023
A Meat Feast at Knife Steakhouse
Plano is the home to the restaurant of one of our favorite Top Chef contestants, Chef John Tesar.
Knife Steakhouse, is no ordinary steakhouse.
Their steak program is world-class, sourcing incredible beef and combining it with an impressive aging program.
The menu features steaks aged up to 240 days, which you won’t find anywhere.
Outside of steaks their Ozersky Burger is one of the top 5 burgers in Texas.
If beef isn’t your thing, the rest of their menu has plenty of delicious options for you.
Get a bottle of wine with anything on their menu, and you will leave very happy!
6121 W Park Blvd RS9, Plano, TX 75093
A Smorgasboard of Options at Legacy Food Hall
With over 20 eateries, craft bars, and a brewery, there’s an option suitable for any craving at the Legacy Food Hall.
We love hitting food halls when traveling because food halls have a small footprint giving smaller, new food businesses a chance to reach a large audience.
As a bonus, the Legacy Food Hall even has the added bonus of the concert space.
This food hall is a massive three-story venue with plenty of seating.
From vegan, to BBQ, to Asian, to Burgers, to Italian there are so many options.
On our own personal food tour, we tried bites from the hall’s Indian restaurant Blist’r Indian Kitchen and Son of a Butcher.
At Blist’r we got their fried iteration of a chicken momo.
It was very different from a traditional momo, and more like an Indian flavored fried potsticker but still very tasty as an appetizer.
At Son of a Butcher, they do high end sliders, similar to White Castle but with wagyu beef and premium toppings.
We got their PB&J bacon burger and their special seasonal Turducken slider with a patty made from chicken, duck, and turkey.
They were tasty, and if we were with friends we would order their burger sleeve where you can mix and match all of their flavors.
This is the place where everyone will have a good meal and a great time since there is such a large variety of options to choose from.

Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center
We stayed at Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center for our getaway to Plano.

The park has a giant fountain, lush greenery, and they specially design the surrounding area for the seasons and holidays.
It’s also just a short stroll from The Shops at Legacy.
The hotel features a breakfast buffet at Copper Creek that will make you a Texas-shaped waffle to order, and Rustic Jewel, a bar with bites.
Some of the great amenities include a full gym, pool, and jacuzzi.
