Skinny Margarita Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Since we can’t travel to Mexico, we’re transporting you wherever you are with the best skinny margarita recipe.

A skinny margarita has all of the components of a margarita, just with way less calories and sugar.

Additionally, a skinny margarita is also a keto cocktail for those on low carb or low sugar diets. Since it has been 100+ degrees in Texas lately, this is a patio sipper that we have been reaching for to quench our thirst during our at-home happy hours.

Skinny Margarita

What is a skinny margarita?

All the flavors of your favorite margarita, with a fraction of the calories and carbs.

But removing the sugar-laden margarita mix and swapping it out for a healthier sweetener, you’ll have yourself a skinny margarita!

Skinny Margarita Ingredients

Skinny margarita ingredients

To make a skinny margarita, you just need tequila, lines, and a zero calorie sweetener, like Purecane. Oh and don’t forget the ice and margarita salt!

Purecane is a zero-calorie sweetener that is derived from fermented sugarcane. It’s all natural and doesn’t have that bitter aftertaste that many no-calorie sweeteners have.

We’ve been swapping out sugar for Purecane in a number of recipes lately, including our peach crisp and raspberry lemon pound cake.

Skinny margarita calories

How many calories in a skinny margarita? That will depend on the tequila you use, but most agave silver tequilas run at about 69 calories per ounce.

Mix that with a zero calorie sweetener and some fresh lime juice and your cocktail clocks in at only 112 calories per drink!

Those sweet restaurant-style margs can range between 500-900 calories per drink!

Make this recipe instead and have another round, guilt free.

Skinny Margarita

Skinny margarita carbs

Pure agave tequila is low in sugar and has zero carbs as a result of the distilling process.

Mixing the tequila with Purecane zero-calorie sweetner means the entire skinny margarita cocktail has only carbs from the lime juice, which is keto approved.

Adding an ounce and a half of lime juice to your skinny margarita will bring the cocktail up to 3.9 grams of carbs.
