What is Skrewball Whiskey?
Gavin is a huge whiskey aficionado, especially after we went on a trip to Louisville and explored the Bourbon trail together years ago.

While many would argue that Skrewball isn’t for whiskey purists, it sure goes great in speciality cocktails.
Skrewball is a flavored whiskey with peanut butter, creating a smooth and nutty flavor to the spirit.
The creamy flavor profile works perfectly with the creaminess of the classic white Russian cocktail.
While Skrewball tastes like dessert in a cup, keep in mind that it is whiskey and carries 35% alcohol (70 proof), which isn’t that much lower than traditional whiskeys, which carry an alcohol percentage of 40%-65%.

Equipment Needed to Make a Skrewball White Russian:

- Bar Spoon: A bar spoon is used to stir some of the ingredients at the base of the cocktail as well as to use as a laying spoon when adding cream to the cocktail.
- Lowball Glass: This cocktail is served in a short lowball cocktail glass. We love this cute set of glassware.
- Ice + Ice Bucket: Start your cocktail with some ice cubes. A glamorous ice bucket is a great addition to your bar cart.
Optional Garnishes for a Skrewball White Russian
This cocktail tastes amazing as is, but if you want to add some pizzazz to your cocktail, consider these garnishes:
- Sea Salt: Adding a sprinkle of Maldon flake salt brings out the saltiness of the peanut flavor.
- Fall Spices: Nutmeg or cinnamon sprinkled on the top is a quick and easy garnish for this cocktail.
- Peanuts: Kick up the flavor of the peanut butter whiskey by topping your drink with crushed peanuts to top the cocktail. If you’re looking for something on the sweet side, mix the crushed peanuts with brown sugar for bonus points when rimming your glass.
- Peanut Butter: Use a spoonful of peanut butter to either surround the rim of the glass, or line the inside of the cocktail glass
- Chocolate: Add chocolate sauce to the rim or use a microplane grater to create little chocolate shavings as a garnish.

What’s the difference between a Black Russian and a White Russian Cocktail?
Curious about the difference between these two cocktails?
The Black Russian cocktail is actually the original recipe of the two. It’s an extremely easy classic cocktail to make because it’s just two parts vodka to one part coffee liqueur, and poured over ice cubes.
Twenty long years after the Black Russian was out, the first recipe of the White Russian was published in 1965.
You may have also heard of the White Russian via it’s late 90’s resurgence when it appeared multiple times in the hit movie the Big Lebowski.
The core of this classic drink is typically 3 parts vodka, 1 part cream, and 1 part coffee liqueur.
You can either shake it all together, or stir it in your glass with ice.
A fun twist on the White Russian is to swap the cream out for Irish cream if you want it more boozy, or vanilla ice cream for a frozen sweet treat.
