What in the world is Moroccan Mint Lemonade?!
While in Fes, Morocco we fell in love with the beverages.
You’d find freshly squeezed OJ sold streetside, avocado smoothies (try them with OJ!), and the most delicious mint lemonade.
Mint is super common in Morocco. While shopping, shop vendors often offer you a cup of mint tea.
While visiting the tanneries, Moroccans will even offer you mint to hold by your nose to cover the smell.
And at some Moroccan restaurants, you’ll find refreshing mint lemonade. The fresh mint leaves are pulsed with the whole lemons in this made-from-scratch lemonade drink.
This weekend in Austin, it hit 100+ scorching degrees.
After spending three straight days at the Hot Luck Food Festival, we were PARCHED. We reminisced about the refreshing mint lemonade from Morocco and set out on a mission to recreate it.
This recipe isn’t an exact replica of the drink we had at Cafe Clock, but it’s pretty darn tasty.
You could even substitute this recipe for the lime juice in a Kentucky Mule for a refreshing twist on a classic.
If you love this recipe, you’ll probably also love traditional lemon juice lemonade, Cucumber Mint Agua Fresca, coconut limeade or Fruit Punch Lemonade drink options.
What’s great about this recipe, is you can whip up a batch as a non-alcoholic beverage, and add in alcohol for the guests we are looking for a cocktail.
We plan on sneaking in a shot of vodka into a glass of this mint lemonade to enjoy poolside this summer!

July 20, 2024 at 4:09 pmWe have 3 lemon trees and had way too many lemons this year so I had been finding new recipes when I came across this one. I love this recipe, and I have made it more than several times. However, I do not have enough room to freeze bottles so now I make your recipe, without the water and ice and then I freeze it in a muffin tin. When I need it, I put 3 pucks in a picture and add 6 cups of water and It works like a charm!
I do strain the lemonade for guests but for me,I have to say, I love eating the little bits!
Thanks for posting this recipe!
