We’re here to show you that Buena Park isn’t just for young kids and families, so we compiled the top 15 things to do in Buena Park for couples.
The story of Buena Park goes back to 1887 where local settlers referred to the area as “Plaza Buena” which means “good park” in Spanish.
Fun fact: Buena Park, California is near Gavin’s home town in Southern Cali, so he used this trip to show off this town packed with great food and entertainment.
Buena Park borders Disneyland and Disney California Adventure which makes it a great Southern California city to add on to your Disney getaway!
Whether you’re planning a special date night or a fun getaway with your sweetie, we’re showcasing the best things at their famous amusement parks for adults as well as other great things to do in Buena Park for couples.
Have a Drink at a Unique, Themed Cocktail Lounge
If you and your date are into mystical adventures, The Cauldron Spirits and Bar is a great place to visit.
This 17th Century witch-themed bar serves up delicious drinks and elevated bites.
It’s so special and unique that it was even named Best Neighborhood Bar.
Visitors are transported back in time to a French inspired pub (which obviously we loved, since we even had our Wedding in Paris).
We enjoyed French gougeres as well as the beef tartare.
You’ll find both traditional drinks as well as whimsy cocktails like a martini with cotton candy and their spin on an old fashioned with absinthe.
This special spot for libations is adorned with antique furniture, a spell-binding cauldron and secrets hidden around every corner.
Come at nighttime for extra special surprises and cozy up with your date for an extra-special nightcap.

Sing Along to Dueling Pianos at Beach Boulevard Club
One of our favorite things to do in Buena Park at night time is the Beach Boulevard Club.
This adults-only hot spot features dueling pianos, fancy cocktails, and delicious bites.
This classy cocktail lounge transports guests to prohibition days of the 1920s and features so much entertainment.
Be sure to arrive early before the show to enjoy a performance from the lounge singer as they recreate pop songs from today but with a retro vibe.
Then two pianists take the stage as they interact with the crowd and take all your favorite music requests.
Book your tickets ahead of time to secure your table for an entertaining evening.
Live shows with tasty drinks are always elements for a fun date night.

Try Live Sushi at Moon Beach Sashimi and Grill
The most memorable meal we had while visiting Buena Park, California was at Moon Beach Sashimi and Grill.
Moon Beach offers a wide range of sushi and sashimi items, but what is most unique is the fact that they offer LIVE sushi.
Choose from live shrimp, live sea cucumber, live octopus, live flounder, or live abalone.
The live seafood is pulled from the holding tanks and prepared for you at the sushi counter right before your eyes.
We ordered the live shrimp dish and the pricing depends on the size of the shrimp that you choose.
The seafood is scooped out from the tanks, the shrimp tail is removed and the shell is removed, then the shrimp is deveined.
Finally, the shrimp tail is placed on a skewer.
The shrimp heads are presented along the shrimp tail skewers. What’s most unique is the fact that the shrimp legs are still twitching once it’s served!
The raw shrimp is so incredibly sweet and tender.
Finally, once you are done eating the shrimp tails, the staff will take the raw heads away to deep fry them.
The crispy tempura shrimp heads are extra crispy and oh-so-flavorful!
The restaurant also offers fatty tuna with gold flakes and impressively prepared sashimi and chirashi bowls.
However, we recommend that you get adventurous and experience live sushi!

Giggle Together at Knott’s Berry Farm
Knott’s Berry Farm is what Buena Park is most famous for.
This amusement park has dozens of thrilling rides, shows and attractions across four themed areas: Ghost Town, Fiesta Village, The Boardwalk and Camp Snoopy.
There’s even a replica of Independence Hall, it’s the only one in the US outside of the Philadelphia original.
In addition to our loving the themed decor throughout the park, we loved riding our favorite thrilling roller coasters: the Silver Bullet and HangTime.
We were lucky enough to visit during the Boysenberry Festival where you can purchase a tasting card to try six of the more than 75 boysenberry themed food options.
We had boysenberry pulled pork mac and cheese, boysenberry beer, boysenberry layered cheesecake, boysenberry sausage pizza with ricotta and basil, boysenberry sangria, and even a baked potato loaded with boysenberry pork!
If you’re visiting during a warm, sunny day, consider making a splash at the Knott’s Soak City water park for water slides, a wave pool, and a great time. Or the classic timber mountain log ride at the main park for a splashing good time.
Knott’s Berry Farm theme park carries a rich history as the birthplace of the Boysenberry, aka one of the best berries in the whole world. You can even step back in time and pan for gold.
You can find all things boysenberry at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant from pie, to salad dressing, to cheesecake, to ice cream.
You don’t even need to have a ticket to the park to enjoy the famous chicken restaurant!

You’ll enjoy Italian comfort foods like pastas and salads, as well as a full-service bar.
We shared a bottle of sparkling wine and a big ‘ol plate of their gamberetto rosa pasta.
The sauce was creamy, sweet, with a kiss of spice and was adorned with juicy, sweet shrimp.
The patio overlooks the center of the Source OC for al fresco dining, or grab a table inside their chic dining room.

This Argentinean steakhouse features a wide range of steak options, including wagyu beef.
Even if you’re not in the mood for steaks, enjoy chicken skewers, burgers, and empanadas.
Celebrating a special occasion? Treat yourself with the tomahawk ribeye, a massive
bone-in steak that’s perfect for sharing.
We love how Gaucho Grill also acts as an elevated market with raw meats to take home for a romantic evening of cooking with your date.
Head there for happy hour for discounts on craft cocktails and select food items.
You can even order a plate of skirt steak with fries and Argentinian sauces on happy hour. It’s a great food option for a date night on a budget.

One of our favorite date activities is going on a food crawl!
The Source OC is a terrific foodie destination, offering a number of Korean street foods and delicacies.
This area also offers entertainment experiences, so once you’re stuffed, head to EKO Karaoke Lounge to sign your hearts out.
Our favorite restaurants were:
- Flippoly egg sandwich shop was named one of the best restaurants by Westways Magazine. Enjoy a variety of egg sandwiches from classics like the original egg to unique creations like Bulgogi BBQ or kimchi. Thick cut bread is stuffed with eggs and the fillings of your choice and served in a specialty holder. Trust us when we say the sandwiches are MASSIVE. Pair your sandwich with a dalgona coffee for an extra special brunch. It was the best coffee we might have ever tasted!
- Monday to Sunday Cafe is a great spot if you are looking for shaved ice. We cooled off on their patio with this tasty dessert and two spoons. Pick from your favorite flavors, we actually enjoyed both the melon and the strawberry all in one bowl, just ask for half & half.
- Only found in Buena Park, interesting flavored lattes are the star of In-Sit Coffee at The Source OC. Try a latte with rose, banana and strawberry flavors. If you are looking for a drink over ice, order a Kyoto cold brew.
- The Source OC has standalone restaurants in addition to a few food courts. Head to The Bakery at food court 3F for Yozmdonut to order a strawberry milk cream donut that tastes just like the flavors we found in the street markets of Tokyo, Japan. Delish!

Enjoy Upscale Korean BBQ with Meat Grilled Before your Eyes
Without question, our date night dinner at Kyung Bok Kung was the dining highlight in Buena Park.
Since Buena Park is famous for their Korean food offerings, you need to make sure to have a Korean BBQ dinner date during your visit.
Kyung Bok Kung Korean BBQ is such a fun thing to do in Buena Park for couples because you get to enjoy elevated Korean BBQ that is cooked right in front of you in a private and cozy individual dining area.
If you’re celebrating something special, order the premium wagyu offering.
It was, without question, the best Korean BBQ we’ve ever tasted and probably the best wagyu that we have tasted outside of Tokyo.
Featuring amazing banchan small plates and fresh ingredients, we also loved the fried mackerel with curry powder, platter of 9 delicacies, and the glass noodles.
Pair the meal with a nice bottle of wine and you’ve just experienced one of the top things to do in Buena Park for couples.

Have an Extreme Movie Date at CGV Cinemas
Take your dinner-and-a-movie date to the next level at CGV Cinemas.
Located at The Source OC, enjoy a movie experience like no other.
Featuring cutting-edge sound, seats that move with the action, and special effects including rain, scents and smoke, this spot is so different from typical movie theaters.
We caught a viewing of the action film, The Fall Guy and were laughing out loud as the seats twisted and turned with each stunt and car explosion.
We loved that the theater offered a wide selection of beers, wine and different flavors of popcorn that change depending on the day.

Cheer Along at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament
Don’t be fooled, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament isn’t just for kids.
Take your date to the castle to be transported back in time to an age of chivalry during the two-hour medieval tournament. How romantic is that?
What’s great about this place is that it is both a dinner and a show.
Cheer on your favorite knight as they compete in authentic jousting tournaments, hand-to-hand sword fights, and equestrian performances.
If you’ve been to a Medieval Times before, there’s a pirate themed dinner show in town too for the entire family called Pirate’s Dinner Adventure.
We didn’t have time to hit the high seas at Pirates Dinner Adventure, but we heard it’s slightly more geared towards kids.

Dine at Buena Park’s Famous Porto’s Bakery & Cafe
If you and your partner are foodies, don’t miss a chance to visit Porto’s Bakery and Cafe.
Voted Yelp’s “#1 Restaurant,” this Cuban bakery serves up amazing pastries and sandwiches.
It’s a very popular spot so you might notice a long line outside, but don’t be deterred, it moves pretty fast!
Be sure to try their famous potato balls, we loved the one filled with ground beef, spices, and olives.
We love that this family-owned business still uses many of the original recipes that they brought
with them from Cuba in 1963.
Talk about authentic food!

Slurp Together at SUP Noodle Bar
If you love global foods like we do, be sure to head to SUP Noodle Bar.
Drawing inspiration from his childhood in North Vietnam, Chef Viet Ha adds his signature twist to classic dishes.
Couples should be sure to try their light and flavorful pho, named OC’s Best Pho by OC Weekly.
We ordered the pho “shaken style” which includes scallions and red onions that have been wok-seared in bone marrow oil.
This was a unique preparation that we have never seen anywhere else.
It added another dimension of flavor to the soup!
Be sure to also taste the Lomo Saltado, a favorite dish from our time in Lima, Peru, that is a flavorful steak dish with a special sauce, tomatoes, onions, french fries, and rice.
You can even cook this at home with our Homemade Lomo Saltado Recipe!
